Are Goodman Furnaces Good Furnaces?

The Goodman Furnace Systems have been around since 1975 and are known for their reliability and longevity. While not the most advanced unlike the other heating and cooling systems of today, the Goodman Furnace is one of the best value options in the market if you are on a budget but still want a reliable furnace.

With proper maintenance and repairs performed by a professional furnace repair company, a Goodman Furnace will last up to 15-30 years as we have stated above. There is a variety of Goodman Furnaces, from 80,000 BTU and above, these furnaces are relatively affordable. If you’re looking for a furnace that won’t put a big dent in your pocket while heating your home for many years to come, the Goodman gas furnaces are a solid option.

What does BTU Mean For Your Furnace/AC?

When you install a furnace for your home, you want to ensure it's going to last you as long as possible. As a general rule of thumb, the higher the BTU output is, the more powerful the furnace is. A furnace with a higher BTU rating can heat up more space and keep you comfortable in rooms with larger spaces.

For example, if you live in a space with multiple large open rooms, you'll want to select a furnace that has at least 80,000 BTUs. In our customer's case, they were looking for something that could easily heat up their whole home while also keeping their utility bills low. Dion's Complete Plumbing, Heating & Cooling installed a Goodman 100,000 BTU furnace because it's highly rated, very reliable, and reasonably priced to keep his home warm for the next 3 decades. For ACs, BTUs to measure how much heat they can remove from a room. The more BTU an AC has, the better able it is to cool larger spaces.

Do HVAC Ducts Need to Be Insulated?

When you think about the components that make up your heating and cooling system, it's easy to see how ducts can be overlooked. The ducts themselves are only a small part of the system, and they're behind the scenes, so to speak. Because of this, many people don't think about insulating their ducts until they start noticing problems with the HVAC system—when there's an excessive amount of moisture in the air or too much heat in certain rooms.

There are many benefits to insulating ductwork—the most significant is reducing energy consumption and prolonging the life of the HVAC system. It will also significantly increase the comfort of your home. Insulated ductwork will allow your heating and cooling system to heat or cool rooms more quickly and reduce noise, which could lead to increased productivity for those who work from home. Leaking ducts can waste energy, increasing your heating and cooling bills. But you can reduce those losses by sealing and insulating leaking ducts.

Expert Furnace and Ductwork System Installation Service

While our customer did not have an air conditioner, he did have a furnace in his home. The heat output of the old unit was no longer able to keep up with the size of the home. He called us to install a new furnace that has a higher heat output and also can quickly raise the temperature of the rooms within an hour. We also installed a new insulated ductwork system, wrapped in R-8 insulation that reduces heat loss in the home's ductwork. This insulation wrap also helps control condensation by providing an airtight thermal break around the ductwork.

In summary, we installed a Goodman 100,000 BTU furnace that has a higher heat output than what was originally installed and also is more efficient than other furnaces on the market with its 80% furnace. Due to its two stages of heat, it saves money unlike other furnaces with just one stage. Also, we wrapped his ductwork system in R-8 insulation which reduces heat loss in the home's ductwork system.
